CULTIVATING A HEALTHY MORNING ROUTINE Daydra Facey March 20, 2016 Health & Wellness, Life 1954 ” When you start each day with a grateful heart, light illuminates from within”- Unknown How do you start your mornings off? Perhaps hitting the snooze button 4 or 5 times until finally you jump out of bed, taking a quick shower, putting on any clean clothes you can find, scarfing down anything you can grab and calling it breakfast, taking the kids to school (if that applies to you) and rushing into work half awake and maybe even a little cranky. Then you watch the clock and count the hours until you leave work, pick up the kids and hope you don’t have to wait to long in the school parking lot, start dinner, check to see if the kids have finished their homework and head to bed tired and mentally preparing yourself to do this all over again tomorrow. What if I told you the way you start your day can impact the way the rest of your day unfolds? Below I list the 4 ways that I start my day off each morning. Getting yourself into a healthy morning routine is a great way to have a beautiful day. 1. Gratitude: Before I start my day I take 5 to 10 minutes every morning to acknowledge all the things and people in my life that I am grateful for. By practicing gratitude you will allow more things to come into your life to be grateful for. Simple things such as clear blue skies, the air in your lungs, your family and friends, sunny days, the house or apartment you live in, the food you eat, the job you work at, your household pets and even toilet paper. So take some time each day and practice gratitude and watch your life change for the better. 2. Meditation: Now I know your thinking I don’t want to be late for work! A lot of people think that to meditate you have to sit for 30 minutes to an hour in order to call it meditating but you can sit for 5 to 10 minutes each day and still get great results. Finding a quiet space to sit and focus on your breathing allows you to calm the mind and the body, be in the present moment and be mindful of your day. So take the time to practice each morning and see how much calmer and easier your day will be. 3. Yoga: Meditation and Yoga go together like peanut butter and jam and they are both equally delicious. If you are brand new to yoga you can check out youtube.com, there are tons of yoga videos for beginners and for advanced yogis. Just like meditation yoga has a lot of mind and body benefits to help you throughout the day. Also the added bonus of stretching your muscles after sleeping for 8 plus hours, developing flexibility in the body and toning and scalping the body and who doesn’t want a toned body. 4. Breakfast: I’m sure you’ve heard the saying before ”breakfast is the most important meal of the day” and it’s the absolute truth. What are you eating for breakfast each morning? Having a healthy breakfast is so beneficial for a healthy body. You can have things such as fresh fruits, fresh juice, healthy oats or cereal, toast and yogurt. You can even have fresh veggie or fruit smoothies which keep you full longer throughout your day. Eating fresh live food gives you that boost of energy you need to help stay alert and active for the day. Starting your day off with a healthy meal is the best way to go. Treat your body like a temple and it will thank you. Well here you have it my friends I hope this helps you start getting into a healthy morning routine so you can have an amazing day all day everyday. Feel free to do them in the order that best suits you, this is just the order I started off doing them each morning. If you find it challenging to do them all then just start off with the one that resonates with you the most. You’ll come to see in time a big chance in how your day unfolds. It took a while for me to get into this routine so don’t give up and just be patient with yourself and know that what your doing will definitely benefit you in the long run. Happy Mornings to ya!
