” Nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished.”- Lao Tzu

When you hear the word relax does it resonate with you?  Have you forgotten what that feels like? Are you one of the many few who relax by doing more work? When was the last time you took some well deserved you time? When was the last time you kicked off your shoes, let your hair down or for the men loosen up that tie and just spend the day doing absolutely nothing? Now if you’re trying to figure out when was the last time you did that  then chances are you are most definitely due for some good ole you time.

Now I completely understand that we all have a busy life whether it’s with work or a family to take care of but every now and then carving out some YOU time is necessary to keep the mind and body active, alert and healthy. It’s okay to have days were the only thing you feel like doing is staying in bed cuddled up under the covers. A lot of people feel that if they are not busy doing something then they are being lazy but who is really thinking or saying these things? Chances are it’s you. Finding some time for yourself to just be with your thoughts is perfectly okay in fact it’s natural. One of my go to ways of relaxing is taking a long walk in nature. There is nothing that grounds me more than taking a long stroll through a beautiful trail surrounded by trees, water and animals. I find for me when I’m in nature not only am I feeling more relaxed but I actually tend to be so relaxed that I get inspired with really great ideas like this article for example. I was propped up on this very large rock looking at the trees, feeling the warm breeze on my face and watching the people walk by with their dogs and the idea for the article came to me. Being out in nature gives our busy minds a break from our hectic life filled with deadlines, breaking news and things that make us want to pull out a few hairs. Seeing how calm everything is in nature in a way helps remind us that life it self can be that way for us as well and it doesn’t only have to be about working and paying bills.

So the next time you are feeling overwhelmed or stressed take that as a sign that you need a break from whatever it is you are doing and head out to your nearest trail with your dog for a walk or if you don’t have a dog then just you is fine. Not only will amazing ideas come to you but this is a great way to relieve stress. If you don’t happen to live close to a trail then just taking a walk anywhere will do. Going grocery shopping or paying bills does not count as a relaxing walk. This is just a walk for you and only you doing absolutely nothing. I know I know it sounds crazy but I believe in you and I know you can do it. When you come home feeling relaxed and calm then you can pick up where you left off and watch how easily the ideas will flow to you. Remember taking time for your self is a great act of self love so don’t feel guilty doing it you deserve it  <3

Love and Light.
