Jays Add a New Pitching Coach Steve Webster October 31, 2013 Sports 1919 The Toronto Blue Jays announced today that they have added Kevin Seitzer to the teams coaching staff as head pitching coach. Seitzer is joining the Jays after serving in the same roll with the Kansas City Royals for the past three years. After a disappointing season the “tweeking” has begun for the Blue Jays. Next on the clubs list must be a front line starting pitcher followed by some help at second base. After last seasons spending spree led to little in the form of results the question this off season is whether the Jays ownership will allow GM Alex Anthopolous any financial flexibility to make the necessary changes to help the push for a playoff appearance. Here is the release from the club today regarding the Seitzer signing. The Blue Jays have named Kevin Seitzer as hitting coach, joining John Gibbons’ staff for the 2014 season. Seitzer, 51, recently served as hitting coach for the Kansas City Royals from the 2009-12 seasons. The 2010 Royals posted a .274 average which was 2nd best in Major League Baseball, while the 2011 squad was 4th ranked at .275. The Springfield, Illinois native also served as hitting coach in Arizona for the first half of 2007. Think this is Awesome?
