Raptors take a chance on Telfair: Updated Steve Webster February 21, 2013 Sports 1949 Reports are out that the Toronto Raptors have acquired point guard Sebastian Telfair from the Phoenix Suns. The Raptors have been looking to bring in a backup for Kyle Lowry since they traded Jose Calderon two weeks ago. Telfair has long been refered to as the next great NBA guard. Before he played a professional game he had a movie made and a book written about him. He has struggled mightily to live up to the hype. Telfairs contract expires at the end of this season so the deal is very attractive from Toronto’s perspective. It is being reported that the Raptors will send a second round pick to Phoenix. The deal is awaiting league approval. UPDATED: The Raptors announced at 8:00 pm Thursday they have acquired point guard Sebastian Telfair from the Suns in exchange for centre Hamed Haddadi and a protected second-round pick.
