Brampton Announces Finalists in The CHL Name The Team Contest Steve Webster March 16, 2013 Sports 3 2847 Hockey Brampton (as they are currently known), the ownership of the new Brampton CHL (Central Hockey League) team announced the ten finalists in their “Name Your Team Contest” on Friday. The announcement took place at the team’s future home, the Powerade Centre before the OHL’s Battalion game where Hockey Brampton offered fans some free hot chocolate to help “Beat The Cold”. The final name for the club will be voted on by the community from the ten finalists selected from the previous write in portion of the contest where fans were asked to submit their ideas for team names. The finalists are: Not the most original group of names, a bunch of animals that have nothing to do with Brampton, and recycled NHL names rarely go over well, as well as a few other “choice” selections round out the uninspired list. You can vote for your three favourite names at the Hockey Brampton website. The club hopes to announce a moniker by early April but not definitive date has been set. One person who votes for the winning name will win a personalized jersey to be awarded at the press conference to announce the clubs new name. Anyone who is interested in the team, be it players, potential coaches, or fans are being encouraged to visit the website or to call 905-564-1684 for more information.
