Now, if you have Facebook (and friends), it is likely that you engage in a little bit of chat with them from time to time, probably using Facebook Messenger. However, did you know that you can do so much more with it than just ‘chat’ with people? On this page, I am going to share with you a few nifty Facebook Messenger tips & tricks. Some you may know, others may be completely new to you.

Browser experience
The vast majority of people using their browser to access Facebook messenger. Most of these people will go through the www.facebook.com website. However, did you know that there are other, slightly more efficient ways? Instead of heading to www.facebook.com, head to www.messenger.com.
The messenger website is cleaner and dedicated 100% to the chat application. There are no adverts in sight and, in my opinion, provides a far better chat experience. You can even change chat colors and emojiis from this site, which is always great.

You don’t need Facebook to use Facebook Messenger
If you head to www.messenger.com or download the Facebook Messenger application to your mobile device, you don’t actually need to have a Facebook account. You can sign up using your phone number. You can add friends using the phone number too. This means that you are not going to have to deal with the standard ‘social media’ experience (which is something that many, many people out there absolutely hate)

Play games
You can actually play games in Facebook Messenger. There are a few different games out there to play. You can head online and find various ‘codes’. One of my personal favorites is Chess. You just type in @fbchess and the game will start. They aren’t the best games in the world, but they are certainly going to be playable for you.

Book an Uber (or Lyft) from within Messenger
If you have the Uber or Lyft application on your mobile device, you can book a cab from within the Messenger app. Near the ‘text box’ (when you are typing to somebody) you will see a ‘…’. Click that and hit the button which says ‘Transportation’. Just follow the instructions from here on out. It is remarkably useful.

Pay your friends
If you are based in certain countries, you can even send payments to friends via the Facebook Messenger app. Once again, you are going to want to hit that ‘…’ near the text box. This should open a link which says ‘Payments’. Just hammer in those details and the payment will be whisked on over to your friend. It is great for paying back small debts.

Photo editing
Again, using the Facebook Messenger app, you can also edit photographs. Hit the ‘camera icon’ near the next box. As you are scrolling through the photos to send, you should see an ‘Edit’ button. Hit that and edit the photo to your heart’s content. Obviously, editing functionality will be minimal, but you can still create some good looking photographs.
