Canadian actor and star of the hit television series “GLEE” Cory Monteith, was found dead Saturday in a Vancouver hotel room. The 31 year old who has struggled with substance abuse in the past played Finn Hudson in the series.

Acting Vancouver Police Chief Doug LePard confirmed Monteith’s passing Saturday night, saying that the cause of death had yet to be determined, but emphasising foul play was not suspected.

The actor`s death comes more than three months after he told People magazine he had voluntarily admitted himself into rehab for substance abuse, though police declined to speculate whether there was any connection.

“We only notified family members about an hour ago, and so we haven’t been able to have those conversations with them,” LePard said, when asked about the possibility the death may have been related to substance abuse. “What we can say is that the cause of death wasn’t immediately apparent.”

LePard said Monteith checked into the hotel a week earlier and had been scheduled to check out on Saturday, but when he missed his check-out time, hotel staff entered the room around noon and found his body.
