A McKerrow, ON man died Friday afternoon after the aircraft he was piloting crashed onto Raven Lake just southwest of Espanola Ontario.  At approximately 4:20 PM the local Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) detachment recieved a call notifiing them that the ultralight plane had crashed. Police and EMS responded to the scene by snowmobile to find the remote crash site.

The lone male pilot was pronounced dead at the scene. A very preliminary investigation says that the ultralight likely went into a nose dive and crashed onto the ice but no further explanation has been released as of yet.

Fifty Seven year old Daniel MORRISSETTE of McKerrow, ON was killed in the crash.

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) is deploying a team of investigators to the site of yesterday’s accident. The team will gather information and assess the occurrence, attempting to pin point the reasons behind the fatal accident.
