Whilst Prince Edward Island may be looked over in favor of many other destinations in Canada, holiday makers who do head to this fantastic place will be thrilled with the amount there is to see and do here. In fact, if you love being out there in nature and if you love peace and quiet, I can’t think of any better place in Canada to head to.

PEI National Park

Most of the northern and central part of Prince Edward Island is taken up by the national park. There is plenty to explore here. You have beaches, historic buildings, all manner of animals to feast your eyes upon, and more outdoor activities than you can shake a stick at.
Perhaps the real highlight of Prince Edward Island National Park is Cavendish Beach, particularly during the warmer months. The sand is just so soft and it is a great way to kick back and relax. If you head to Cavendish, you will be able to take part in a few activities including golf courses and amusement parks (for the children)

Charlottetown

This is a town which looks like it is still in the midst of the Victorian-era. It looks wonderful. As you can probably guess from a historic town like this, much of what there is to do here is focused on museums, art galleries, and architecture. A great place to walk whilst here is Victoria Park. You can get there from the harbor (which is also gorgeous!)

North Cape

If you are hiring a vehicle whilst on Prince Edward Island, you will almost certainly wish to head to North Cape. It boasts some pretty scenic drives. Much of the landscape is dominated by wind turbines (this is a very blustery area) and they are a sight to behold. If you wish to find out more about how wind turbines work (it is more interesting than you may think!) then you should pay a trip to North Cape Interpretive Centre.

Summerside

This is the second largest city on the island and, once again, it is another gorgeous place to visit. This seems to be a bit of a hub for cultural activity on the island. There are a couple of different museums to visit too. One of my favorites is the Arcadian Museum. It covers the history of this area, right from the first time it was settled by the Europeans.

Points East Coastal Drive

This is another place you will want to head if you are hiring a vehicle. It is an incredibly scenic drive with beaches, sand dunes, and lighthouses galore. If you are heading along the route, you may want to take a trip to Orwell Corner Historic Village. It is a great place to see what this area would have looked like during the midst of the nineteenth century. It is actually fairly cheap to get into it too!
Of course, this is just a small smattering of things to see and do on the island. As you head around, I am sure you will be able to pick up a whole host of other things to see and do.
